KUALA LUMPUR: YTL Communications Sdn Bhd calls for mobile network operators (MNOs) to support the government’s vision to bring 5G to the entire country by 2024 and at the lowest cost to the rakyat.

In a statement today, managing director Datuk Yeoh Seok Hong said the implementation of the 5G network will provide a strong digital backbone for Malaysia and accelerate economic growth as well as the digitisation of the economy.

Following the government’s announcement today that the Single Wholesale Network (SWN) model will be retained for the 5G rollout in the country, he said YTL Communications reaffirms its commitment to support the government to bring the mobile network to the nation.

"YTL Communications fully supports the government’s decision to retain the SWN model and allow MNOs to participate as shareholders in Digital Nasional Bhd.

"As the First-To-5G in Malaysia, YTL Communications is seeing tremendous excitement and uptake of our 5G services,” he said.

Yeoh also said that as the 5G network expands, YTL Communications will continue to play its role in bringing 5G connectivity to every Malaysian.

"With average speeds of 600Mbps experienced by users on our service, we are proud to be able to bring world-class services to our customers,” he said. - Bernama
