Communications and Multimedia Minister Annuar Musa announced that 5G will be provided to over 1,000 schools by the end of 2022

With an aim to help schools manage a more up-to-date and thorough learning system while also helping consumers living in the surrounding area, the Communications and Multimedia Minister is set on making this initiative a reality by the end of the year, as reported by The Edge Markets.

According to the minister, five or six schools is set to be selected to test the capacity of the 5G network

The only thing that's pending now is approval from the Ministry of Education.

"We are still waiting for the green light from the Education Ministry, and I have already discussed with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB), who have given their commitment to make a success of the 5G network implementation in schools," says Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

Once approved, it seems like operations to get these 5G networks set up will be underway.

Having a 5G network will be significant for many Malaysian schools

As data and mobility becomes more essential in this day and age, the increasing need for 5G becomes more apparent than ever. Why? Because 5G delivers faster data speeds, improved network reliability and better load capacity.

Faster data speeds: Students and teachers will be able to access online learning materials through their school laboratories in a much faster rate thanks to higher Internet speed.

Improved network reliability: 5G ensures that all data transfers are done seamlessly and with little to no error.

Better load capacity: More computers and devices being connected to the 5G network wouldn't be a problem as the network can host a large number of devices in its infrastructure.

Hopefully, our 5G coverage improves so students and teachers can fully benefit from this initiative
