17 November 2022 (San Francisco) – Senior Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) executives met with major US tech firms for discussions on how a 5G Single Wholesale Network (SWN) could provide a platform to enable innovation and economic growth.

The week-long working visit saw DNB meeting with CEOs and senior leaders at Verizon, Google Cloud, Unity, Rivada, Ookla, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Mastercard, Salesforce, Intel, Microsoft Azure, NTT, Ericsson and ZTE. DNB also met with Schmidt Futures, the NGO of Google’s former CEO, Eric Schmidt, in addition to Business Finland, a government organisation under the Finnish Ministry of Employment and Economy, as well as several leading international financial firms.

DNB explored how innovative 5G solutions and services could be a catalyst for economic development and high-skilled jobs growth, especially for the youth. Malaysia’s SWN was touted as an innovative model for 5G deployments, with the availability of significant 5G spectrum at low cost enabling future large-scale pilot programmes for the country. Discussions further identified the need to create a pathway from 5G proof of concepts to the execution of robust pilot programmes for global applications.
