SIBU (March 23): A total of 227 sites out of the total target of 587 5G sites in Sarawak have been developed by Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) as of Feb 28 this year, said Senator Robert Lau Hui Yew.

He said this was informed to him in the Dewan Negara after he had asked Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil on the latest status of the implementation of 5G internet network in Sarawak.

“The areas with 5G coverage include those in Bintulu, Kanowit, Kuching, Miri, Samarahan, Sarikei, Sibu and Sri Aman,” Lau said in a statement.

For Sibu, he said six 5G sites out of the 75 planned have been completed, with the remaining 69 sites expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
